How licensing works

Purchase

Buy a license for your department. You'll receive a small license file (termpoint.lic) by email from [email protected]. If it doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam, junk, or quarantine folder.

Install

Place the license file in the same folder as your department's TermPoint database. That's it — no activation, no keys to type.

Share

Every user who opens a database from that folder gets full access automatically. New staff members are covered instantly.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to pay to download TermPoint?
No. TermPoint is free to download from the Microsoft Store and includes a full-featured 30-day trial. A license is only needed if you want to keep using it after the trial ends.
What does "department license" mean?
One license covers everyone in a single academic department who shares the same TermPoint database. There's no limit on the number of users — if someone new joins, they're covered automatically.
Do I need a separate license for each database?
The license file needs to be present in each folder that contains a TermPoint database. If your department uses one database, one copy of the license file is all you need. If you maintain separate databases (e.g. one per subject area), place a copy of the same license file in each folder.
What happens when the license expires?
TermPoint switches to read-only mode — you can still open and view your schedule, but editing is disabled until you renew. Your data is never locked away.
What if I want to try before I buy?
TermPoint includes a 30-day free trial with full editing access. Just install from the Microsoft Store and start scheduling — no credit card, no sign-up. Purchase a license when you're ready.
Can I get a quote or invoice for my institution's procurement process?

Who processes the payment?
Payments are securely handled by Paddle, our payment partner. TermPoint never sees or stores your payment details.
Can I get a receipt for my institution's records?
Yes — a receipt is emailed automatically after purchase, and is also available any time from the link in that email.
